We build enduring ideas

David Kohn Architects is a London-based practice established in 2007, working internationally on arts, education and residential projects. We advise institutions, estates and private clients on the future of buildings and wider sites, combining strategic analysis with carefully considered architectural proposals.

Our Mission
Our mission is to build enduring ideas. We aim to make work that lasts, whether as buildings or as frameworks for decision-making. Learning from the past, we help clients plan effectively today to build long-term futures for their environments.

Our Values
Our company’s values are openness, rigour and care: We are open to collaboration, to different perspectives and to the specific needs of each client and site. We work with rigour, applying a disciplined design methodology and maintaining high professional and technical standards. We care about the quality and longevity of our work, about the environment, and about the people who live, work in and steward the places we design.

Our Clients
We work closely with clients who are responsible for complex buildings, estates and cultural programmes, often within sensitive historic, urban or institutional contexts. These include New College, University of Oxford, S.M.A.K. Museum of Contemporary Art in Ghent and developer Lendlease. Our private clients include fashion designer Jonathan Anderson, artist David Shrigley and developer Crispin Kelly.

Recognition
Our work has been widely recognised for its quality, rigour and originality. The practice has received a range of national and international awards, including RIBA House of the Year, World Interior of the Year, Architect of the Year, and honours from RIBA, D&AD, the Design Museum Designs of the Year, New London and Condé Nast. The practice was also nominated for the Iakov Chernikov Award, recognising ‘young masters of contemporary architecture for the strength of their architectural concepts’.
