A major project to improve the public realm in the centre of Harrow to accompany the upgrade of bus routes by Transport for London through the area. Works include the partial widening, reconstruction and resurfacing of the footways and carriageway, public realm improvements at key road junctions incorporating new granite paving and seating, street lighting and tree planting.
The objective is to create a successful mixed use street where the demands for competing modes of transport and different users are reprioritised within a substantially improved public realm.
David Kohn Architects were appointed by Harrow Council in May 2010 to develop the borough’s sketch design into a full scheme. The project is currently on site and due for completion in February 2011.
